Overnight Medley

Overnight Medley is a book of music and friendship. The Brazilian poet Floriano Martins, whom I met in 2011 when he was my professor, invited by Armando Romero in a course on Latin American surrealism at the University of Cincinnati, suggested writing a book of poems about Jazz. I accepted the invitation and started writing the book, which is composed of four parts: Footprints, with ten poems of my own; Giant Steps, with 10 poems written by Floriano; My Favorite Things with 10 poems written in 4 hands by both authors using the technique of automatic writing as the equivalent of jazz improvisation; and finally Do not eat the yellow snow, which is a conversation between Floriano and me about the very writing of the book. The book was published in Brazil by ARC Edições, in 2014.
